Fiano is making waves in the Australian wine scene, and McLaren Vale's Oliver's Taranga is helping lead the charge. The Hunt for Mrs Oliver is their premium sparkling Fiano series showcasing the versatility of this increasingly celebrated Italian varietal through two beautifully crafted releases made using the traditional Champagne method.
At the heart of the series is a loving tribute to Marjorie Oliver (née Hunt), the grandmother of winemaker Corrina Wright and a much-loved family matriarch. The name is both a playful nod to her maiden name and a poetic reflection of the little reminders of Marjorie that continue to pop up in everyday life, from the gardens she nurtured to the land her family still calls home.
The packaging brings this sentiment to life through intricate, custom illustrations inspired by traditional etching styles. Blooming flowers, native birds, knitting yarn, handwritten letters and treasured everyday objects are woven into a vibrant botanical tapestry, capturing her warmth, creativity and all the little things that made her so special.
Two distinctive colourways give each wine its own personality. The bright, colourful expression celebrates the original sparkling Fiano, whilst a deeper, more opulent treatment distinguishes the extremely limited Late Disgorged release. Beautifully tactile papers, copper foiling and considered embellishments adorn the bottles, creating two captivating wines united by a shared story.
A celebration of the little things that leave the biggest impressions, and a fitting toast to the woman behind the name.
